Botulinum Toxin is a wonder drug. There are a few different brands on the market – Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeaveau. All work in a similar way with minor differences. They help relax the overactive muscles that create wrinkles. The result is smoother skin with fewer lines. Dermatologists inject botulinum toxin to relax brow furrows, forehead creases, crow’s feet, lip lines, and chin dimples. They also use it to lessen neck bands, tighten your jawline, slim your face and more! What’s better than that? Botox is a mood elevator. Published studies show that it helps with depression!
Your doctor can help you pick the brand of botulinum toxin that’s best for you. It can take more than a week for the effects to kick in. If your wrinkles are deep, it might take more time to unkink them. For most, the results last about 3 or 4 months. Over time, your wrinkle-causing muscles will weaken and you’ll see a cumulative effect. You’ll need less toxin and get more time out of it.
For those of you who don’t have noticeable lines yet, “Baby Botox” might be an option. We use tiny amounts of botulinum toxin preventatively to keep those pesky lines away. People who start Baby Botox early enough will generally need a smaller amount, less often the years. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Broken blood vessels (telangiectasias) look like little red dots, lines, or webs. Usually, they’re most noticeable on the face, chest, or legs. But, they can happen anywhere. With the Excel V+ laser, we can specifically target and get rid of your broken blood vessels. The treatment is relatively comfortable and safe in all skin types. You might need more than one treatment session for complete results.
We call them age spots, liver spots, or solar lentigos. What they are is annoying brown spots that weren’t there before. Most commonly, they’re on your face, chest, or hands. After your dermatologist checks them to make sure they don’t look suspicious, you can get rid of them!
The Excel V+ laser 532 nm handpiece “sees” and selectively heats brown spots. You might notice the spots darken, then flake or scab off before they fade. It might take more than one treatment to get the results you want. If you get treatment for brown spots, it’s important to maintain the results with proper sunscreen and the right products. Otherwise, there’s a higher chance they’ll come back.
Do you ever feel like your skin looks dull and uneven? If so, you might need a chemical peel. We apply a chemical solution to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin looks smoother, more even, and less wrinkled than the old skin. Dark spots, scars, and red marks fade. Some peels are light and peel very little, while others peel a lot. Your doctor will help you decide what’s best for your skin. After your peel, you’ll need a specifically tailored skin care regimen to keep your skin glowing.

The safest types of fillers are made out of hyaluronic acid. These include Juvederm, Restylane, and Revance RHA. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occuring substance that hydrates and plumps skin. As we age, we lose hyaluronic acid and our skin starts to wrinkle and sag.
Dermal fillers replace lost volume and improve facial shape. Dermatologists inject them to fill hollows, add lift, tighten the skin, and soften wrinkles. The result is you, refreshed. When done properly, fillers are subtle and natural. Your doctor will choose the appropriate filler for you based on your skin’s needs and the effects you desire. The reason hyaluronic acid fillers are the safest is that we can reverse them by injecting a medicine called hyaluronidase.
Fraxel Dual 1550/1927 laser treatment targets aging and sun-damaged skin. It uses microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin to expedite your body’s remodeling of collagen. Since the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes very rapid healing. Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927 treatment resurfaces your skin by stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out. We can adjust the laser to give you anything from a quick refresh to a total overhaul.
Laser Genesis V is the ultimate lunchtime laser facial. This treatment stimulates collagen regrowth, reduces redness and inflammation, and evens skin tone. Genesis V can also treat skin conditions like enlarged pores, scars, and roughly textured skin. It’s a zero-downtime procedure that creates impressive results. As we age, we collect benign growths. Fortunately most of them aren’t dangerous. And if they bother you, they can almost always be removed. Some examples of growths that you can get rid of are:
- Skin tags
- Seborrheic keratoses
- Cherry angiomas
- Dermatosis papulosa nigra
- Sebaceous hyperplasias
- Scrotal calcinosis
Dermatologists mix and match different removal techniques depending on what the growth is. They might use cold (cryosurgery), heat (electrocautery), laser or surgical removal.
If you’re sick of having dark spots, you’re not alone. Whether it’s melasma, sun spots, or dark marks from inflammation, hyperpigmentation makes skin look uneven. The good news is that we have many different ways to improve it. Depending on what’s causing your hyperpigmentation, you might benefit from laser treatments, chemical peels, or both. Along with your procedures, we’ll tailor a complimentary skin care regimen just for you.
Kybella is a fat melter. It’s deoxycholic acid, a substance similar to what your body uses to break down the fat you eat. Kybella is FDA approved to treat double chins, but it also works for other fat pockets. It’s given as a series of injections. The number of treatment sessions you’ll need varies by person.
Getting rid of hair has never been easier than with our Cutera HR Laser. This device has the two most effective hair laser wavelengths (755nm and 1064nm), making it safe for all skin types and in all seasons. With the ultra cool tip hand piece, the treatment is virtually painless.
Please note, laser hair removal should actually be called laser hair reduction. It gets rid of hairs in the active growing cycle. We all have resting hairs that haven’t come out yet. To stay ahead of them, you’ll need occasional touch ups.
We use laser resurfacing to target aging and sun-damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin. The laser strategically delivers heat that stimulate your body’s remodeling of collagen. This helps improve fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture, sun damage, and scarring. Since the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, the skin heals quickly. This treatment resurfaces your skin by stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out.
Microneedling is a collagen booster. We use it to prevent and improve wrinkles, minimize pore size, even skin tone, and fade scars. It works by creating tiny, controlled micro-injuries that stimulate your body’s healing response. Since the needle pricks are so small, the overall integrity of the skin stays intact. This means minimal downtime and a lower chance of side effects. Microneedling is safe in all skin types.
We can add to the benefits by microneedling with platelet rich plasma (PRP). PRP is a component of your own blood. To get it, we draw your blood and then spin it in a special centrifuge. The red blood cells sink to the bottom and a clear gold fluid rises to the top. This “liquid gold” is chock full of platelets and growth factors that amplify healing, collagen production and remodeling.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is chock full of platelets and growth factors that heal, repair, boost collagen production, and remodel skin. This makes it a valuable tool in our dermatology arsenal. There’s scientific data that PRP injections into the scalp are effective for treating hair loss. We microneedle it into the skin to improve skin texture, pores, fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. And, we can even inject it under the skin as an alternative to dermal fillers.
What’s great about PRP is that it’s fully yours and 100% natural. To get it, we draw your blood and then spin it in a special centrifuge. The red blood cells sink to the bottom and a clear gold fluid rises to the top. This “liquid gold” contains platelets and growth factors that amplify healing, collagen production and remodeling. Why not take advantage of your body’s natural resources?
Prejuvenation means being proactive about your skin before you see wrinkles, sagging, and sunspots. First, you start a skin care regimen in consultation with your dermatologist. Then, you use strategic, minimally invasive treatments to maintain your skin.
Your dermatologist will be able to come up with a long term prejuvenation plan that’s specific to you. It might include light resurfacing, a little filler, peels, lasers, or “baby Botox” (Botox in tiny amounts to avoid the wrinkles from ever coming). By doing lighter treatments earlier, you’ll get better results with less downtime. It’s always easier to prevent issues than to correct them later.
If you have facial redness and are looking for a procedure to help, lasers are the answer. The Excel V+ and Laser Genesis each target and improve redness in the skin. The Excel V+ is highly specific at disrupting overactive blood vessels. Meanwhile, Laser Genesis delivers targeted heat to stabilize them. Your dermatologist might recommend one or a combination of these treatments, depending on your skin type and treatment goals. She’ll give you skin care instructions and a tailored product regimen.
The Vivace is a state of the art treatment that combines microneedling and radiofrequency. Microneedling creates controlled microcolumns of injury that trigger your body’s healing response. Radiofrequency delivers heat to boost collagen production. This minimally-invasive treatment has been shown to effectively reduce fine lines and wrinkles, while tightening and toning the face and neck. It also helps improve the appearance of pores, scars, and stretch marks. Vivace is safe in all skin types and in all seasons.

If your spider veins bother you, you might be a candidate for laser vein removal. The Cutera Excel V+ Laser combines the ideal laser wavelength with the most flexible parameters to deliver a superior vascular laser treatment. It addresses a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deeper blue veins quickly, safely, and effectively. Patients with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results.
It works by delivering pulses of energy that cause the blood inside the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is then reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where it should be.
Sun-damaged skin can have dark spots, light spots, redness, broken blood vessels, wrinkles, and sagging. The medical term for this is photoaging. Fortunately, we have many effective treatment options. These include lasers, chemical peels, botulinum toxin, fillers, and micro-needling. Your dermatologist will come up with a plan based on what she sees on your skin. Sometimes a combination of treatments will work best. Along with your treatment, we’ll make sure you have a skin care regimen that will keep your skin looking it’s very best.
There’s nothing wrong with aging, actually it’s the greatest gift. But it also doesn’t hurt to look your best along the way. We’re lucky to live in the age of so many minimally invasive treatment options. It means we can address fine lines, smooth wrinkles, and tighten and tone our skin without going under the knife. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a time and place for surgical correction if you need and want. But tools like botulinum toxin, fillers, lasers, microneedling, and RF microneedling are here to help us delay or avoid it completely. The object isn’t necessarily to just “look younger”, it’s to look and feel your best.
